Dress in layers. The weather may be chilly or the it could be really hot. The forecast is usually inconsistent. Be prepared for various temperatures. Always carry a small umbrella in your bag. I usually wear ballet flats. They may get a little wet in the rain. Rain boots may not be necessary, they are heavy and may be too hot and clunky. I find that my feet get too dirty when wearing flip flops in the city and they get slippery in the rain.
